The wristwatch phone isn't a new idea… but is it the right time for the Apple iWatch?

Google offers its Project Glass 'smart glasses' to beta testers in the USA

Google has published a new video demonstration of its Project Glass headset, which offers a wearable computer with a camera and display built into a pair of ‘smart glasses’.

70 million smart wearable devices are expected to be sold in 2017

The number of smart wearable devices sold worldwide will more than quadruple in the next five years, according to a recent report from Juniper Research.

It’s forecast that sales figures for consumer and business versions of smart glasses and mobile health/fitness devices will rise from almost 15 million devices this year to nearly 70 million by 2017.

Google Glass wearable mobile device will ship in the USA next year

The ‘Google Glass’ wearable mobile computing device will be available to buy early next year - but only to US-based mobile developers. Developers who attended Google’s I/O conference this week have been invited to pre-order the headset, which is expected to sell for $1,500.

Sergey Brin, Google’s CEO, made the announcement today after a Google Glass demonstration that showcased the display and video camera capabilities of the prototype device.
