Google releases Apple iOS maps app

There’s a new mapping application available for the iPhone… and it’s been created by one of Apple’s biggest competitors.

Following the introduction of Apple’s own Maps app in September - and Apple CEO Tim Cook’s apology for the quality of the map application - Google Maps has been released into the Apple App Store.

EE announces the next 17 UK towns and cities to receive 4G mobile data

EE has confirmed details of the 17 UK towns and cities that are next on its list for 4G mobile phone service.

It says 4G will be launched in Bradford, Chelmsford, Coventry, Doncaster, Dudley, Leicester, Luton, Newport, Reading, Rotherham, St Albans, Sunderland, Sutton Coldfield, Walsall, Watford, West Bromwich and Wolverhampton during the first three months of 2013.

It’s the time of year when the mobile telecom industry does its best to forecast the trends of 2013.

ABI Research and Juniper Research have both published their predictions, with mobile data, device trends, retailing, operating systems and gaming all on the list.

New report says mobile banking has 'taken hold around the globe'

Mobile banking has seen significant worldwide adoption in the last twelve months, according to a new report from global consultancy Bain & Company. Its Customer Loyalty in Retail Banking report notes that the highest mobile banking penetration was in South Korea, where 47% of respondents had interacted with mobile banking in the previous three months.

The highest frequency of using mobile banking was noticed in the USA, with survey respondents averaging 4.9 mobile transactions in the previous three months.
