Slightly later than originally anticipated, BlackBerry has formally launched its BlackBerry Z3 Jakarta Edition smartphone. It’ll go on sale from Thursday this week at an official price of IDR 2,199,000.
As its name suggests, the new handset is built exclusively for consumers in Indonesia. The phone is equipped with a 5 megapixel camera, 8GB of memory and promises a maximum talktime of 15.5 hours. It has a 5-inch display and is optimised for the Bahasa language, with exclusive Indonesian content including downloadable ‘stickers’.
John Chen, BlackBerry’s Executive Chairman and CEO, said “BlackBerry has changed the way millions of people around the world stay connected. From conception to delivery, the BlackBerry Z3, Jakarta Edition was designed specifically with our Indonesian customers in mind. This device gives users more ways to connect, share and communicate, providing the best tool for secure, reliable communications and collaboration with friends, family and co-workers. Priced affordably, the BlackBerry Z3, Jakarta Edition will extend the full capabilities of the BlackBerry 10 Operating System version 10.2.1 experience for a new generation of customers in Indonesia.”
The BlackBerry Z3 has been produced by Foxconn on behalf of BlackBerry as part of a five-year partnership announced last December.
