RIM and Telefonica plan in-app charging on O2 bills

Research In Motion and Telefonica have announced plans to introduce integrated carrier billing to BlackBerry App World. This will allow Telefonica customers around the world to purchase apps from BlackBerry App World and charge them to their monthly bill. Customers will also be able to add in-app purchases of digital goods to their monthly bill.

Patrick Spence, Regional Managing Director of RIM, said “BlackBerry App World is now available in over 100 countries. Integrated carrier billing will make it easier than ever for Telefonica customers to purchase apps for their BlackBerry smartphones.”

Telefónica operates in 25 countries with over 280 million customers globally.
