Customers of O2 UK can now buy iTunes codes and charge them directly to their mobile phone account, whether a ‘pay monthly’ bill or ‘pay as you go’ credit. The iTunes codes can then be used to purchase music, apps, books and videos.
Previously customers had only been able to buy individual items of digital content.
O2 is promoting the launch with a special offer for two weeks, enabling customers to buy £25 of credit for £20.
Danny Barclay, Head of Commerce Sales at O2, said “We look forward to making our customers’ lives easier by offering them a fast, easy and safe alternative method of payment to purchase iTunes credit.”
Over 100 merchants currently support O2’s direct carrier billing service, which is branded as ‘Charge to Mobile’, with over 10 million transactions processed since it was launched.
