Huawei has announced a couple of high-spec smartphones at CES 2013 today.

Huawei Ascend D2

The Huawei Ascend D2 is an Android device with a 5-inch 1920x1080 display, 13 megapixel camera and a 1.5 GHz quad-core CPU; specifications that are very similar to Sony’s new flagship phone. It also features battery efficiency technology, dust and water resistance, anti-scratch Corning Gorilla glass and photography features that were once only seen on professional-type cameras.

In addition, the Huawei Ascent Mate - described as the smartphone with the largest screen in the world - has also been launched. It has a 6.1-inch 1280x720 display, an 8 megapixel camera, stereo audio recording and a 1.5 GHz quad-core processor. The screen promises ‘Magic Touch’ responsiveness, which means it’ll work with gloves.

Richard Yu, CEO of Huawei Consumer Business Group, said “The HUAWEI Ascend D2 has the style, power and all-round performance capabilities you would expect from a HUAWEI Ascend smartphone, but with a revolutionary FHD screen, unsurpassed camera quality and power saving technology to maximize your enjoyment.”

Availability of the D2 is expected from this month; a version with a slightly smaller screen will also be available in some markets. The Ascend Mate goes on sale in China from February.
