The ‘big box’ stores set up by Best Buy Europe - the Best Buy joint venture with the Carphone Warehouse - will close on Sunday 15th January 2012. It’s less than two years since the company’s first UK store opened in Thurrock.
All eleven Best Buy stores in the UK will close.
This follows a November 2011 announcement in which the Carphone Warehouse Group said it planned to end its profit-sharing agreement by selling its interest in Best Buy Mobile US and Canada back to Best Buy. The majority of Best Buy UK staff are expected to be offered roles with the Carphone Warehouse.
