Recent concerns raised by the US Government Accounting Office about the management of the GPS system are being dealt with. That’s the message from the US Air Force, which is responsible for the worldwide network of Global Positioning System satellites. The GAO report said there was only an 80% likelihood of the Air Force being able to maintain 24 working satellites after 2010, which could affect the performance of GPS-equipped phones, sat nav systems, commercial navigation products and military equipment. The Air Force said it had over 30 satellites in orbit at the moment with two more launches scheduled in the next 12 months. [Source: PCWorld.com]
