Two very different types of mobile phone shortage are hitting Russia and Indonesia. The Moscow Times says Russia’s Federal Customs Service has temporarily tightened the rules for mobile phone imports and now wants every individual handset to be checked, which means hundreds of thousands of units have been piling up in Moscow warehouses since last week. The new rules will remain in place until September. And The Jakarta Globe reports that Indonesia has stopped licensing new BlackBerry devices until manufacturer RIM opens a local office for after-sales service.
