O2 is planning to transform 82 of its UK shops into franchise operations by the middle of 2013, increasing the total number of franchised outlets to around 200.
It means that over 40% of O2 UK shops wouldn’t be owned by the Telefónica mobile network.

A new report produced by Informa Telecoms & Media and published by the Small Cell Forum shows that the number of ‘small cell’ devices worldwide now exceeds the total number of traditional mobile base stations.
Small cells - femtocells, picocells, metrocells and microcells - are low-power wireless access points that are managed by mobile operators. They can offer mobile coverage in situations where conventional base stations aren’t practical.

Google-owned Motorola Mobility has announced its sponsorship of pop star Justin Bieber’s ‘Believe’ worldwide tour.
It’s also set up a mobile-optimised web site - RowMLive.com - and an associated competition to support the North American leg of his tour.

EE - previously known as Everything Everywhere - has launched the UK’s first 4G mobile phone service today.
The ‘4GEE’ service is now available in 11 cities across the UK: Bristol, Birmingham, Cardiff, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Leeds, Liverpool, London, Manchester, Sheffield and Southampton.
