Figures from the USA show there were 10.4 million tablets using built-in cellular connections last year, which is a 46% increase from 2012.
However, sales of cellular-capable tablets fell from 16% of all tablet sales in 2012 to just 12% in 2013.

Aerospace and defence manufacturer Boeing has announced an Android-based smartphone with what’s being described by many people as a ‘self-destruct’ anti-tamper case. It’s called the Boeing Black and has been in development for the past two years.
Breaking into the phone would apparently cause it to delete its software and the user’s personal data. There’s also additional software-based protection and embedded hardware-based security.

Farewell to Telefonica Digital, Telefonica Europe and Telefonica Latam
Telefónica, the company behind O2 UK, has announced a new organisational structure and a new strategy.
The new structure is intended to be simpler and ‘completely focused on clients’. A new role of Chief Commercial Digital Officer has been created and the activities of Telefónica Digital, Telefónica Europe and Telefónica Latam are being moved into the main business.

Mobile network EE has signed a six-year partnership deal with Wembley Stadium, becoming the venue’s ‘lead brand partner’ for the first time in its 90-year history.
It’ll also become a supplier to the England Men’s football team and The FA Cup competition.
