A study by the Michigan State University has shown that mobile phone usage had no effect on academic performance among a group of 12-year-olds. In contrast, a strong relationship was found between video games and low marks, although playing video games didn’t appear to affect maths skills and seemed to help visual-spatial skills. The research also confirmed that females used more phones more frequently than males, while males played video games more frequently than females. [Press release]
