Sony reveals 13-megapixel 5-inch HD Xperia Z smartphone

Sony Mobile Communications has revealed its new flagship Android smartphone at the CES show in Las Vegas. The Sony Xperia Z is a 4G-ready device with a 5-inch 1920x1080 screen, a 13 megapixel camera and a 1.5GHz Snapdragon S4 Pro quad-core processor. It’s expected to be available within the next few months.

By putting smartphones at the heart of our strategy, Sony is enabling people to create, enjoy and share content and experiences like never before.”

Features on the phone include High Dynamic Range (HDR) video to give clear images against strong backlight, a battery stamina mode to improve power economy, dust and water resistance, a toughened display and multimedia entertainment sharing across other Sony devices.

A similar but smaller phone - the Sony Xperia ZL - will also be released in some markets.
