Qualcomm buys around 2,400 patents from HP

Patent portfolio includes technology from Palm, iPAQ and Bitfone

Qualcomm Incorporated has acquired a collection of patents from three HP companies: Hewlett-Packard Company, Hewlett-Packard Development Co LP and Palm Inc.

The patent portfolio comprises approximately 1,400 granted patents and patent applications from the USA plus approximately 1,000 patents and patent applications from other countries.

According to Qualcomm, the portfolio “covers technologies that include fundamental mobile operating system techniques” and includes patents relating to Palm devices, iPAQ handheld computers and the Bitfone mobile device management business. No information about the purchase price was revealed.
