New Ofcom chair approved

The Government has confirmed that Dr Colette Bowe will take up her position as Ofcom's new chairman on 11th March 2009. Ofcom announced in December 2008 that it had chosen Dr Bowe to replace David Currie, although the appointment needed to be approved by the government before Dr Bowe started work. It's interesting to note that the committee was "concerned about the amount of time Dr Bowe would have to carry out her Ofcom responsibilities, given the impressive range of other posts she holds". It's a point we raised in our podcast on 7th January. Dr Bowe responded by assuring the committee that she was able to give 60% of her time to Ofcom. [Committee report]
