A fifth of US households have mobiles but no landline

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention – a US government agency with a particularly scary name – published preliminary results from its July - December 2008 National Health Interview Survey (NHIS) last week. 20.2% of American homes only had mobile phones, an increase of 2.7% since the first half of 2008, with an additional 14.5% receiving all or most of their calls on mobile phones despite having a landline telephone in the home.
