Huawei joins the Windows Phone 8 smartphone crowd

Huawei has presented its first Windows Phone 8 smartphone at CES 2013. It’s called the Ascend W1 and is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon S4 dual-core 1.2 GHz processor. The phone has a 4-inch 480x800 screen and a 5 megapixel camera along with a 1950 mAh battery that promises up to 470 hours of standby time.

The addition of the Ascend W1 to our smartphone portfolio gives consumers access to an even wider range of Huawei smartphones. At a price that makes sense to consumers, Ascend W1 underscores our commitment to put smartphones within reach of every consumer, no matter who you are or what you want from your phone.”

The Huawei Ascend W1 will be go on sale in China and Russia this month, with European availability to follow.
