Earlier this week we reported a worm targeted at Apple iPhone users. It changed the phone’s wallpaper to an image of Rick Astley – but we also warned that future variants could be less pleasant.

Now security software company Intego says it’s found a hacker tool that takes advantage of jailbroken iPhones in the same way as the ‘Rick Astley’ worm. It’s a software program for Mac, Windows, Unix or Linux computers that allows the computer to connect to a jailbroken iPhone and copy the user’s personal data – including messages, contacts, photos and music – over a WiFi connection without the user knowing.

As with the Rick Astley worm (which is known as ‘ikee’ after the writer’s nickname), the new security problem only affects jailbroken iPhones.
