The Mobile Money Network has launched its ‘Simply Tap’ shopping application for Android and Apple devices. Customers who set up a Simply Tap account (including payment details) can then buy products just by entering a short code into the app. The sale is then confirmed, payment is taken and the product is delivered to the customer’s chosen address.
Simply Tap codes can be used in any kind of advertising, from web ads to outdoor posters, without the retailer needing to create their own online payment process. Retailers can offer promotional discounts and special offers, with £10 cashback currently available on some purchases.
Participating retailers include Best Buy and the Carphone Warehouse - which were involved in setting up the joint venture - along with Thorntons, Pretty Green, Goldsmiths, moreTvicar.com and WOWee One.
The Mobile Money Network was formed in November 2010 by Monitise plc, Best Buy Europe and Charles Dunstone.
