Campaign group UK Uncut, which says the government is letting rich individuals and corporations avoid tax while making massive cuts to public services, has been campaigning across the UK today. Its targets included Vodafone and Sir Philip Green's Arcadia group of retail businesses. UK Uncut says £25 billion tax a year is avoided by rich individuals and big business.

Vodafone stores were hit by similar protests in October after claims that the company had avoided a £6 billion UK tax bill, a claim denied by both Vodafone and HM Revenue & Customs. Today’s protests resulted in Vodafone stores in London, Sheffield, Newcastle and Brighton being closed.
