EE has confirmed it’s the official technology and communications partner of the 2013 Glastonbury Festival, taking over from the role its Orange brand has performed in previous years.

The company says it’ll install a temporary 4G network for the festival as well as increasing capacity for 2G and 3G users.

It’s also producing the official Glastonbury 2013 mobile app and will provide two ‘EE Recharge’ tents for festival-goers to recharge their mobile devices. These tents will also offer a free WiFi network that’s powered by EE’s 4G mobile service.

Spencer McHugh, Brand Director at EE, said “As the UK’s biggest and only superfast 4G network, we’re uniquely placed to use our technological expertise to help make the Glastonbury experience even better for those on site; from producing the feature packed official app for the festival, providing hundreds of charging points on site in our Recharge tents, through to ensuring festival goers can upload and share all their festival photos and videos to social networking sites at superfast speeds.”

The 2013 Glastonbury Festival runs from 26th - 30th June.
