A survey commissioned by Skype has shown we like using technology to keep in touch at Christmas. Almost 44% of Britons said they'd be sending Christmas SMS text messages, with 22% keeping in touch via Facebook or Twitter and 14% using Skype to contact friends and family.

The study also showed that 5.8 million Brits would be working on Christmas Day and 11 million on Boxing Day – although a quarter of people at work during the festive period said they'd be using some of the time to contact friends and family. And 19% of festive workers said they'd deliberately swapped shifts with a colleague so that they could be in the office, not at home. [Press release]
