This week’s edition of The Fonecast includes a report from Apps World, which took place in London on 30th November and 1st December. As the name suggests, the event was all about mobile applications, their development, the technology that’s used and the ways that apps are marketed. A total of almost 2,500 people attended.

James Rosewell went along to report for The Fonecast and was surprised at the apparently low-key presence of the Wholesale Applications Community. “They were tucked away round the back of the show and not really talking about what should be the biggest change in mobile applications that’s going to happen in the next 12 months. I got the feeling the Wholesale Applications Community are just playing their cards a little bit too close to their chests. Maybe their members, sponsors and backers are a little bit nervous about saying too much too soon. But if they’re going to seriously compete with Apple, they need to be creating a buzz.”

The feature also includes a couple of short interviews. First, James speaks to Sam Morton, one of the founders of ScreenReach Interactive, about the Screach platform created by his company.

And there’s also a chat with Karl Dahlström, who was one of the speakers at Apps World. He’s a Developer Program Architect at Sony Ericsson – and James couldn’t resist asking him about the rumoured ‘PlayStation Phone’.
