ExclusiveThings are looking better in 2010 for telecoms recruitment

Last year didn’t seem to be a good one for job seekers anywhere – and the telecoms sector was no exception. But now, in 2010, things seem to be looking better. So does this mean it’s the right time for mobile phone companies to start recruiting and for employees to think about moving jobs?

To answer those questions, this week's edition of The Fonecast includes an interview with two telecoms recruitment specialists; Graham Sedgley, who runs Peplow Recruitment Services, and Spencer Davies, the sales director at Wye Recruitment.

ExclusiveOrange, Blyk and Unanimis announce new mobile marketing service

Orange has announced a mobile advertising service called 'Orange Shots'. The service launches on 1st February and will enable brands to contact customers that have expressed an interest in the companies or their products.

Orange Shots will initially be launched on Orange’s pay as you go Monkey tariff, which has 100,000 users. It'll use SMS and MMS messages and is being offered via Orange-owned ad network Unanimis in the UK. In addition, Orange Shots is described as being 'powered by Blyk Media'.

ExclusiveMobile Cloud application revenue to hit £5.9 billion by 2014

A few months ago we heard from ABI Research, which predicted the number of mobile subscribers worldwide using cloud computing - storage or applications provided over the internet - would grow from 42.8 million people in 2008 to over 998 million (nearly 19% of all mobile subscribers) in 2014.

Now Juniper Research has put some figures to those predictions. It says annual revenue from cloud-based mobile applications will reach nearly $9.5 billion (£5.9 billion) by 2014.
