RIM CEO admits he's not been happy with company performance

At the Annual General Meeting of Research In Motion today, CEO Thorsten Heins has admitted he’s “not satisfied” with the way the company has performed recently. However, he remains positive despite the likelihood of several challenging quarters ahead.

Mr Heins said the forthcoming BlackBerry 10 operating system, which is now scheduled to appear on new devices early next year, would enable RIM to offer LTE connectivity and compete with rival operating systems. Frank Boulben, RIM’s Chief Marketing Officer, suggested that some markets could see BlackBerry 10 in January 2013.

In addition to its previously announced cost-saving plans, RIM is apparently considering the sale of one of its two corporate jets.

All ten of RIM’s directors were re-elected at the AGM, although a significant proportion of votes - 30% for one director - were withheld.
