Nokia introduces its lowest price Windows Phone 8 handset

Nokia has launched its third Windows Phone 8 device, the Nokia Lumia 620. It’s a smaller, lower-price smartphone than either of the company’s two previous models.

The Nokia Lumia 620 has a 3.8-inch display, a 5 megapixel camera, NFC support and a battery that promises up to 9.9 hours of talk time. It runs a dual-core 1.0GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor. Optional interchangeable casings in a variety of colours enable users to customise the appearance of their phone.

Jo Harlow, executive vice president for Nokia Smart Devices, said “We continue to execute on our strategy to reach new audiences and new markets. With its innovative design, the latest Windows Phone 8 software and signature experiences from Nokia, like Nokia lenses, Nokia Maps and Nokia Music, the Nokia Lumia 620 is a highly competitive smartphone at this price point.”

SIM-free pricing is expected to be around $249 (£186 incl. VAT); the smartphone is expected to go on sale in Asia from January, followed closely by European availability.

Nokia also announced the Lumia 920T; a TD-SCDMA version of its flagship Lumia 920 handset for the Chinese market.
