Twitter introduces Vine video service

Micro-blogging site Twitter has launched its own mobile video sharing service. It’s called Vine and is currently only available as an app for the iPhone and iPod touch, although versions for other platforms are in the pipeline.

The app lets users record and share video clips of six seconds or less. The clips constantly repeat and are embedded in Tweets (with the volume turned off by default).

Vine was a New York-based business that was reported to have been acquired by Twitter in October last year.
