Following Orange’s announcement that it’ll have an Intel chip in its own-brand smartphone later this year, Intel has revealed new partnerships with the ZTE and Lava mobile phone businesses. It already has smartphone agreements with Motorola Mobility and Lenovo.

Paul Otellini, president and CEO of Intel Corporation, said “We are very pleased to add new, important customers and capabilities to our phone offerings today. We remain focused on delivering exciting new features and outstanding performance to smartphone customers around the world.”

Lava International, an Indian mobile handset company, announced the launch of the XOLO X900. Rather like the Orange smartphone, it’s based on Intel’s smartphone reference design and will be available in the second quarter of 2012.

The ZTE deal is a multi-year collaboration across smartphones and tablets. ZTE’s first Intel-powered mobile device is expected to appear in the second half of this year.

Along with its smartphone deals, Intel also announced plans for new smartphone processors with speeds of up to 2GHz.
