Telefónica Digital has announced a number of significant developments in its ‘beyond connectivity’ strategy during an Investor Conference in London this week.
It’s revealed a number of major ‘direct to bill’ payment agreements, it’s entered a partnership with UAE-based network Etisalat and it’s using its experience from O2 Media to boost mobile advertising in Brazil.
‘Direct to Bill’ payments for mobile content
Telefonica has put global agreements in place with Facebook, Google, Microsoft and Research In Motion, which means customers using these platforms & services will be able to charge payments directly to their mobile phone account. The service, which has already started rolling out in Europe, is expected to be live in 14 Telefonica businesses around the world by the end of 2012.
Partnership with Etisalat
The company has unveiled an agreement with Etisalat that’ll see the two companies working together on Machine-to-Machine (M2M), financial services, device procurement, cloud computing, video services, digital advertising, eHealth and over-the-top communications. Etisalat set up a Digital Services unit earlier this year.
