Stephen Elop to run Microsoft Devices Group when Nokia acquisition is finalised

Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella says former Nokia CEO Stephen Elop will join Microsoft as Executive Vice President of the Microsoft Devices Group as soon as the forthcoming Nokia acquisition is completed. Mr Elop will report directly to Mr Nadella.

The deal is expected to be completed this month.

In an email to employees, Satya Nadella said “I look forward to working with Stephen as a key member of the senior leadership team and welcoming the Nokia Devices and Services employees to the Microsoft family. The mobile capabilities, hardware design expertise, and world-class manufacturing and supply chain operations they bring will help us drive innovations in devices to delight our customers.”

There’ve also been two other significant appointments this week: Scott Guthrie is now Executive Vice President of Microsoft’s Cloud and Enterprise business, while Phil Spencer has a new role leading the Xbox teams.
