ExclusiveNetflix launches streaming TV and films in the UK and Ireland

Film and TV streaming service Netflix has launched in the UK and Ireland. It offers online access to television programmes and films via a wide range of devices, including tablets and mobile phones as well as computers, games consoles and internet-connected TVs.

The service currently costs £5.99 a month with a one-month free trial.

Mobile industry author and analyst Tomi Ahonen has calculated the 25 biggest companies by mobile revenue. He notes that some companies often thought of as being ‘mobile’ actually rely on this for only a fraction of their total income.

In first place, based on mobile revenue alone, is China Mobile.

Mobile game business Moblyng has closed down, according to a report on VentureBeat.com. The company produced HTML5 games for mobile devices.

California-based Moblyng launched as ‘FlipTrack’ in 2007, before changing its business plan and moving into gaming.

ExclusiveThree UK reports six-fold increase in mobile data on New Year's Eve

Three UK is reporting a six-fold increase in the amount of smartphone data on its network during New Year’s Eve 2011.

In a blog post, Nigel Field - Three’s Director of Devices - says the company recorded 14 Terabytes of data on 31st December 2010. On the same day in 2011, usage had increased to 80TB.
