Users of the BOLT mobile browser now have access to GetJar’s entire library of over 70,000 free mobile applications via a GetJar branded link on the 'favourites' page. It's the result of a deal between BOLT's developer Bitstream Inc and GetJar, the world's second-largest app store.
Although GetJar's apps are free, the company charges developers for premium placement in its listings. GetJar and Bitstream will split the revenue when those applications are downloaded via BOLT.
Anna Magliocco-Chagnon, CEO of Bitstream, said "Fundamentally BOLT is about getting the most utility possible from your mobile phone, a mission we share with GetJar. This agreement also brings an important new revenue opportunity for BOLT as any revenue generated through the download of sponsored premium applications is split between the two companies. We partnered with GetJar because are they are the most experienced, ‘open’ application catalog working across multiple platforms such as Java ME, BlackBerry OS, Symbian – any device and platform used by our customers."
The BOLT mobile browser works on any Java ME equipped mobile phone and can be downloaded from GetJar.
