HipLogic, which already offers an alternative 'home screen' with live information for mobile users, has announced a new application called *Spark. (Yes, the asterisk is part of the product name). It's currently available free in beta form for Android and Symbian users, having been revealed yesterday at Nokia World in London and at DEMO in San Francisco.
The company is describing *Spark as "the ultimate active Home screen experience". It includes:
• the current temperature and extended weather forecasts,
• breaking news, sports, finance and entertainment,
• status updates for Twitter and Facebook, and
• real-time Facebook and Twitter streams.
Additional options are planned for the future.
Mark Anderson, CEO of HipLogic, said "*Spark is like the love child between the iPhone's intuitive interface and the powerful, personalized, multi-tasking engine of Android. You can turn on or off what you like, re-arrange your modules, add feeds and discover new content all from your phone's Home screen."
