Huawei introduces the world’s slimmest smartphone

Huawei has announced what it’s describing as the world’s slimmest smartphone. The Huawei Ascend P6 is just 6.18mm deep, compared with 7.6mm for the iPhone 5, although its 120g weight is heavier than the iPhone 5. It runs Android 4.2.2 on a 1.5GHz quad-core processor and has a 4.7-inch HD screen.

Other notable features include a front-facing 5 megapixel camera (as well as an 8 megapixel camera on the back), a touch-screen that can be used with gloves and a 2000mAh battery.

Richard Yu, Chief Executive Officer of the Huawei Consumer Business Group, said “The HUAWEI Ascend P6 is a star among smartphones with its industry-leading design, high-quality camera, and intuitive user interface, Huawei’s proprietary Emotion UI. Building on the success of our Ascend P series of fashion smartphones, the HUAWEI Ascend P6 provides unsurpassed technology and a design that is simply stunning.”

The Huawei Ascend P6 will be available in the UK from July in a choice of black, white or pink.
