UNESCO Mobile Learning Week starts in Paris

This week is UNESCO’s first Mobile Learning Week, which is being held in the group’s Paris HQ in partnership with Nokia.

UNESCO - the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation - has invited around 200 government officials, industry experts and practitioners to discuss how mobile technologies can transform education.

Although around 90% of the world’s population now has access to mobile phones, with many areas introducing local initiatives, UNESCO says there are very few national policies directly related to mobile phones and learning. It plans to release its Guidelines on Mobile Learning Policy in late 2012.
