LG Electronics says its next flagship smartphone - rumoured to launch early next month - will be known as the G2. Future smartphones in the same series will carry the ‘G’ premium branding and will drop the ‘Optimus’ name that’s previously been used. The names of current mobile devices will continue unchanged.
In addition, LG’s premium 4:3 display smartphones will be rebranded as ‘Vu:’ in the future.
Dr Jong-seok Park, president and CEO of the LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company, said ““Our vision is to make LG’s newest G devices synonymous with excellence, raising the bar even further for the ultimate in user experience. The new G2 will build upon the excellent reputation established by previous G Series products.”
The new LG G2 is expected to have a screen that’s larger than 5 inches across and a top-spec 2.3GHz Qualcomm processor.
