A month later than expected, BlackBerry has started rolling out its BBM applications for Android and iPhone. The apps will allow users with non-BlackBerry devices to send and receive instant messages using the popular BBM messaging service.
Originally scheduled for the weekend of 21st and 22nd September, the BBM app rollout was postponed when an “unreleased, older version of the BBM for Android app” was posted online and downloaded by around a million people. This beta app would have affected the BBM system and couldn’t be blocked without delaying the official launch.
