Samsung Electronics has created a gaming controller for its Galaxy smartphones and tablets.
The Smartphone GamePad connects via Bluetooth and will work with most Galaxy devices with a 4-inch to 6.3-inch screen running Android v4.1 or above. It has a rechargeable battery, a steel frame and a grip to hold the mobile device in place.
Controls include an 8-way D-pad, two analogue sticks, four action buttons and two trigger buttons.
There’s also an associated ‘Mobile Console’ app to help users find and purchase GamePad-supported games. 35 titles are currently available including EA’s Need for Speed Most Wanted, Gameloft’s Modern Combat 4: Zero Hour, SEGA’s Virtua Tennis Challenge and Ubisoft’s Prince of Persia: The Shadow and the Flame.
The GamePad is has been launched in a number of European countries with additional markets due to be added in the next few weeks.
