EE offers 4G roaming for visitors to the UK

EE has become the first UK network operator offering its 4G service to overseas visitors. It’s agreed that customers from the USA’s AT&T network will be able to ‘roam’ onto EE when they visit.

4G LTE roaming agreements for UK EE customers aren’t yet in place but are expected by the middle of 2014.

Olaf Swantee, EE’s CEO, said “Technology is not just shaping how people book and research holidays; but what they look for when they are choosing a country to visit. From finding their way to local landmarks, to avoiding the Oxford street crowds by shopping on their tablet, tourists are increasingly looking for fast and reliable mobile experiences when they travel abroad. With the biggest and fastest 4G network in the UK, we can provide our partners’ customers with the best mobile experience to stay connected when they visit the UK.”

Current roll-out plans mean the EE network is due to cover more than 160 UK towns and cities by Christmas.
