Plus a new 'smart home' initiative

Samsung has revealed four new Android tablets at CES 2014: one Samsung Galaxy NotePRO device and three TabPRO devices.

The NotePRO, which has a 12.2-inch display, is supplied with the company’s S Pen stylus. However, other features are similar to the 12.2-inch TabPRO. There are also 10.1-inch and 8.4-inch versions of the TabPRO. Processor specifications will vary depending on the end market, although it’s expected that 4G-compatible versions will run on Qualcomm’s  2.3GHz quad-core Snapdragon chip.

All four tablets will be offered worldwide during the next few weeks.

JK Shin, CEO and President of the IT & Mobile Division at Samsung Electronics, said “We created the Galaxy NotePRO and TabPRO series to kick-off a year in which Samsung truly establishes its leadership in the tablet market. This new line offers the best-in-class content consumption and productivity, combining a stunning viewing experience with Samsung’s design legacy. The Samsung Galaxy NotePRO and TabPRO truly demonstrate our commitment to providing our customers with extraordinarily versatile product offerings, tailored to tablet users of every description.”

In addition, Samsung has announced the ‘Samsung Smart Home’ service that’ll help consumers manage Smart TVs, home appliances and smartphones through a single platform.

Initially the service is expected to let consumers control their air conditioning or lighting via their Smart TV or smartphone, even if they’re not at home. There’ll also be a voice command to enable a Galaxy Gear watch to turn off your TV or your lights when you go out. As well as this, appliances will send alerts when they need maintenance. Although the initial roll-out will focus on Samsung products, the technology can also be used for equipment from other manufacturers.
