With the tagline “Share Your Where”, Glympse Inc has revealed the public beta of its mobile location service. It lets users share their current location on a detailed map without requiring friends and colleagues to register. Each Glympse message is delivered as a unique URL that launches a map showing the sender's location, speed and – if they’ve set a destination – the estimated arrival time. Messages will expire after a time that’s preset by the sender, so casual acquaintances and colleagues can receive location data that’s only valid for a specific event or journey.
Glympse has been launched on the T-Mobile G1 phone, with applications available soon for other smartphones including the Apple iPhone, BlackBerry and Windows Mobile devices.
