O2 has announced that it'll be offering a fixed-line home phone service from March. The service will be available to new and existing customers who also subscribe to the company's fixed-line broadband service.
There'll be a choice of two home phone packages. ‘Evening & Weekend’ is £9.50 per month, offering unlimited calls to UK homes at evenings and weekends. ‘Anytime’ is £12.50 per month and offers unlimited calls at any time to UK homes, 0845/0870 numbers and landlines in over 20 countries (subject to a fair use policy). This means that customers with O2’s standard broadband package plus the Evening & Weekend phone package will pay £22 per month including line rental – and the discounted rate for O2 Mobile users will be £17 per month.
Sally Cowdry, UK Marketing Director at O2, said "This is the most important launch for us in the home space since we entered the broadband market and is part of our strategy to evolve beyond mobile to a leading connectivity brand. We know how many of our customers value the convenience of paying for their home phone and broadband together with no hidden extra costs, and we will be bringing the same commitment to quality of service with our home phone service as we have successfully established with broadband."
O2 Home Phone is only available to customers who switch from an existing BT landline.
