Orange has announced a mobile advertising service called 'Orange Shots'. The service launches on 1st February and will enable brands to contact customers that have expressed an interest in the companies or their products.
Orange Shots will initially be launched on Orange’s pay as you go Monkey tariff, which has 100,000 users. It'll use SMS and MMS messages and is being offered via Orange-owned ad network Unanimis in the UK. In addition, Orange Shots is described as being 'powered by Blyk Media'.
The Orange Monkey tariff already offers free music and texts to customers when they top up their mobiles; the new advertising service promises to add entertainment, news and sport content. Customers have the opportunity to opt out at any stage.
Marc Overton, Orange UK vice president of Wholesale, Business Development and Partnerships, said "Orange Shots will transform mobile advertising as we know it. It’s a win-win for brands, as well as our customers, with advertisers continually seeking new and innovative ways to engage with consumers, and our customers getting rewarded with access to exclusive, interactive content and offers, knowing that they’re tailored specifically to them and their interests."
