New figures from Berg Insight indicate that the number of mobile network connections used for wireless machine-to-machine (M2M) communication reached 81.4 million at the end of 2010. That’s a 46% increase on the previous year.
Europe maintained its global leadership with 29.5 million connections - up 43% - while North America was up 51% to 23.6 million and the Asia-Pacific region was up 53% to 19.6 million. Berg Insight’s figures suggest that AT&T is now the world’s largest provider of wireless M2M connectivity services after ending the year with 9.3 million M2M subscribers.
