Vodafone UK customers are currently suffering from severe service disruption following the theft of equipment from "technical facilities".
The Vodafone eForum currently contains the following post:
"Hello
We had a break in last night at one of our technical facilities which resulted in damage done to some of our equipment. This means that some customers may be experiencing temporary loss of voice, sms and internet services. We are working quickly to restore these and will be back to normal as soon as we can. There has been no impact on the privacy of customers' data.
Thanks
J
eForum Team"
Here at thefonecast.com we noticed Vodafone devices failing all morning and all calls to Vodafone customers weren't being connected.
Update: the disruption was caused by a break-in and burglary at a Vodafone UK network site in Basingstoke. Voice, text and internet services to several hundred thousand customers on and around the M4 corridor have been affected, the company says.
Vodafone says it expects full service to be restored this afternoon and points out that customer data has not been compromised.
