Three UK works with Facebook to offer free Java app

Three UK is offering its customers a Facebook mobile application for Java-based feature phones that’ll be available from tomorrow. It’s also enabling customers to download and use the app without incurring any data charges until the end of January 2012.

FacebookThe ‘Facebook for Every Phone’ application claims to provide a better and faster Facebook experience than other similar non-smartphone applications and mobile sites. Features include easy photo uploads and the ability to synchronise address book contacts with Facebook friends.

Three will continue to offer access to the 0.facebook.com mobile website free of charge.

Javier Olivan, Head of International Growth at Facebook, said “At Facebook, we strive to not only provide a great experience on the website, but to also provide a great Facebook experience from any mobile device they choose. Through our collaboration with Three we’re thrilled we can offer yet another way for people to stay connected through Facebook and bring a high quality and high speed mobile application experience to feature phones in an affordable way.”
