Symbian Belle becomes Nokia Belle

Nokia is dropping the Symbian name for the latest release of its operating system. In an announcement today, it said “The all new Nokia Belle (previously Symbian Belle) user interface will soon be available for download to some existing smartphones and begin shipping with a selection of smartphones that are already on the market.”

Symbian Belle was launched earlier this year on the Nokia 603, Nokia 700 and Nokia 701 smartphones and is now starting to be shipped with new versions of the Nokia C6-01, Nokia C7 and Nokia N8.

Customers who have a Nokia C6-01, E6, C7, E7, X7, N8 or Nokia Oro will be able to update their phones to Nokia Belle from February 2012.
