Huawei wins network management deal from Three UK

Ericsson agreement comes to an end

Huawei has signed an agreement with Three UK to deliver service management and operations for Three’s core network. It’ll also be responsible for managing Three’s UK information and communications technology applications through a partnership with Tech Mahindra.

As a result, a number of staff will be transferred to work for Huawei’s managed services business and Tech Mahindra.

Dave Dyson, Chief Executive Officer of Three UK, said “The decision to select Huawei to manage core network operations follows a rigorous procurement process. We chose the partner that best met our requirements and which matched our long-term vision of how our network should be managed. This partnership is just one of a series that sees us enhance the capability of our Ultrafast network. The partnership means the existing team experience will continue to support the management of our core network.”

Three and Huawei already work together in a number of other international markets.

Ericsson had previously been managing Three’s UK network on a seven-year deal set up in 2005.
