Kaspersky Lab has recently released pan-European research that shows many people feel more secure using smartphones to surf the internet than PCs... yet those people are less likely to have security software on their phones than on their computers.

In this week’s podcast we talk to David Emm, senior security researcher at Kaspersky Lab UK, about this research.

We discuss the current threats to mobile phones - and the best ways to keep phones safe. David explains that the amount of mobile malware - malicious software aimed at mobile phones - is growing, although the scale is still significantly less than that faced by PC users.

We also talk about the mobile operating systems being hacked, with Apple’s iOS currently offering a high level of protection while Java is increasingly being targeted.

It creates mobile coverage maps and provides coverage data, as well as supplying information about coverage patterns, wireless spectrum depth, network configurations and licencing.

First came Nokia’s planned withdrawal from its mobile money service, which will leave around a million people in India looking for a new mobile wallet.
