If there was one thing that mobile security expert Jack Wraith could say to every new mobile phone owner, it would be "go and register the phone on immobilise.com". That's the UK's national property register, which is linked to the Police national mobile property database.

Jack is our guest in this week's edition of The Fonecast. As the man who heads the Telecommunications UK Fraud Forum and the Mobile Industry Crime Action Forum he's well-placed to offer an informed opinion.

In an interview with Iain Graham, Jack explains how thieves are now targeting the data that's stored on a phone. He points out that a stolen iPhone with personal information can be worth over twice as much on the black market as an 'empty' iPhone.

There's also a warning that organised gangs are stealing mobile phones from music festivals; a particularly easy target as most mobile users will be using their smartphones very publicly and may not be keeping them in a secure place.
